The Hatch

General Questions regarding the Hatch.

What is the purpose of the Hatch?

The purpose of the Hatch is to launch a Commons DAO whose members are aligned around the defined mission to advance Token Engineering and Token Engineering public goods.

What is the Timeline for the Hatching of the TEC?

We are looking at April for the Hatching process to begin. The Hatch will happen in 2 parts and the length of the first phase, the 'Hatch', will be chosen through a community vote. The second part is the Commons Upgrade which will be implemented by the members of the Hatch DAO.

What type of tooling are you using for governance?

General communications are expressed on our Forum while the day-to-day operations are facilitated through our Discord. Our decision-making is informed through cadCAD, and voting is held through the TokenLog application and Aragon Dapps (Dandelion Voting).

How can cadCAD be useful?

cadCAD is one of many TE Public Goods at our disposal. It allows Token Engineers to validate their designs. Validating designs is currently, sadly, more work than it’s worth but because of the open source nature of cadCAD we hope that there will be more baseline cadCAD models being built so it becomes easier. That said, there are other simulators, like TokenSpice, that also are important for design validation. We will support the use of all of them.

Have all the current Hatchers been involved from the start?

No. Many of the participating Hatchers have joined at various times since the Token Engineering community began to take shape. We encourage any prior members who may have withdrawn from participation to get involved once again, and any individuals who are interested in becoming members to get involved ASAP! We are looking for all types of Token Engineers (you don’t need to be a CS expert to be a token engineer!) to take part in this process.

Is there a limit to how much wxDAI I can co-vest into the Hatch?

The amount of funds you can co-vest into the Hatch is based on your CSTK score, and the CSTK Ratio determined by the Hatch Oracle (more on this in The Hatching Process).

In our test Hatch, that ratio was set at 2 wxDAI/CSTK. That means that if you have 1000 CSTK Tokens, you could have co-vested up to 2000 wxDAI to the test Hatch.
